The first and last segment of "Made Up"

This is a blog segment where we make up a story about a made up creature. In an attempt to publicize this wonderful poem, the story we will now tell is "The Flobblemith, by Carl J. Schnitker".

The Flobblemith

There was a small, pleasant planet
on which lived a cow.
He was a brother cow.
And galaxies, and outer reaches,
And blackness beyond sight
and other wonders he would sing of
on many a warm summer night.
And he sang of old men,
Who traveled these galaxies, and hitchhiked on stars
And meteors.
And his song, it went like this:

Across the darkn’d expanse of black
there is a Flobblemith.
And he lives and he cries and he laughs
for he is a Flobblemith.
And I went and I saw this mystical thing
and the Flobblemith talked to me.
And the Flobblemith talked to me.

Said he, “We shall go! We shall fly!
We shall float into space!
and see what my brothers have seen.
To see what my brothers have seen.

Said I to this Flobblemith, “We shall go! We shall fly!
We shall float into space!
And see what your brothers have seen.
To see what your brothers have seen.

So we went! We flew! We floated in space!
And saw what his brothers had seen.
Yes, we saw what his brothers had seen.

Across the darkn’d expanse of black
there is a Flobblemith.
And he lives and he cries and he laughs
for he is a Flobblemith.
And I went and I saw this mystical thing.
And I talked to the Flobblemith.
And the Flobblemith talked to me.
Yes, the Flobblemith talked to me.

And as the cow sang, he remembered, and cried
For old friends,
And for a Flobblemith that cried.

Have a good summer, and don't forget anything you learned in kindergarten.
This is Jacob, signing off.
(And, oh yeah, I made that logo)
